You can use coverage on your credit card possibly, but that doesn’t cover liability or replacement transportation (2nd rental) in the event of accident or theft of the rented vehicle.
Other poster is correct, when I searched for rental vehicle coverage, it did not come up, but a search for Roadstar brought up the following.
This coverage is just for RoadStars, drivers at minus 9 or lower on the Claim-Rated Scale.

If you have the Roadstar package or Roadside Plus package on your ICBC policy then you are already covered for a rental vehicle rented anywhere in Canada or the U.S. for a maximum of 30 days (private insurers in B.C. also offer the same coverage so check your policy). If you don’t own a vehicle then you can purchase a stand alone policy. A Vehicle Travel Protection Policy (APV314) is NOT what you want. What you want is a Rental Vehicle Policy (APV281). This policy will cover liability arising out of the use of the vehicle, accident benefits, uninsured motorist protection, physical damage coverage for the rental vehicle and loss of use coverage. Last time I checked this policy cost $10 per day with a three day minimum. There are some restrictions in terms of coverage so make sure you go over them with the broker who you purchase the coverage from.
